Into the Streets of Ethiopia

I usually do not post about every charity but this one is special and worthy. It is ran by an amazing family that adopted their beautiful daughter from Ethiopia. That is how I got to "know" them, praying their daughter home last year. Their hearts were changed when they traveled to Ethiopia and they started a ministry to the orphans there. They partner with established orphanges and charities. They have forund a way to get desperately needed formula for starving babies for $12.00 a can. The progression of the Deer Family

As you can see, the family is coming along. The buck is more "buff" and close to being done. I havn't had a lot of time this last week to work on them. Thanks for checking up on the progress. It gives me power to keep going.

The Layout is Done!

The Start of something Good!

OK friends and followers, I am getting ready to start the "real" Deer Family painting!
It has been waiting on the "back burner" long enough and the timing is right.

I have felt that special things will happen and be revealed as I work on this painting, a glimpse of God's care and protection.

I plan to post pictures of the progress. Right now, my awesome wireless scanner is not communucating. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.

2 Ocean Studies

A project that I did. It is one picture that I took at the beach.

From the picture, I did a watercolor Study.

And a study in Acrylic.

Interesting the feelings that the two different mediums conveyed.

Chickadee!

I am learning and enjoy Chinese Brush Painting. This Chickadee was one of the first pieces I did and felt proud of.
In Chinese Brush painting, the colors are loaded on the brush in layers. The result is that in one brush stroke, several colors are put down at the same time, layering on the brush instead of on the paper as in traditional watercolor. The rice paper that is used presents a challenge as the surface can be unpredictable. In some spots it is absorbent and some spots are not.

An Introduction

Hi, I'm Debi!
I work mostly in watercolor, am enjoying teaching myself Chinese Brush painting and have started some experimentation with acrylics.
I am interested in showing my art in an Artist Co-Op type gallery and encouraging emerging artists.
I am currently involved in an artist mentoring program. I am excited about this program because of the focus and direction it provides to take the next steps in my art journey.
